The WI 2017 takes place in the premises of the University of St.Gallen. From the central station in St.Gallen, it is within walking distance.

It can also be reached taking bus route no. 5 (departure from station square (Bahnhofplatz)/Kornhausstrasse towards “Rotmonten“ until station “Universität“ (university); current timetable) or route no. 9 (departure behind the station at Rosenbergstrasse towards ”Schuppis Nord“ until station “Universität”, current timetable).

The confirmation of participation or the conference ticket, respectively, authorize the participants of the WI 2017 to freely use public transport within the city of St.Gallen (zone 210), starting Sunday, February 12, 2017 to Wednesday February 15, 2017.

St.Gallen can be reached hourly with an IC connection via Basel – Zurich. Further connections from Germany are the S8 starting in Konstanz or the IC connection Munich – St.Gallen.

Coming from Austria, St.Gallen can be reached via Innsbruck – Buchs – St.Gallen.

Timetable SBB

The closest international airport is Zurich (ZRH), which is approached by Swiss/Lufthansa, Germanwings, and Air Berlin. There is a direct train connection between the Zurich airport and St.Gallen (travelling time 1h).

Basel airport (BSL) is approachable by easyjet. The train ride to St.Gallen takes approximately 2 ½ h.

St.Gallen-Altenrhein airport (ACH) and Friedrichshafen Bodensee airport (FDH) can be reached occasionally by routes from Germany.

St.Gallen is connected with Munich via the intercity bus network. Budget-friendly tickets for a journey starting in Munich are for example available at the following providers:

St.Gallen can easily be reached by car via autobahn A1 coming from Munich, Innsbruck, as well as Zurich (distances: Zurich 1 hour, Munich 2.5 hour, Stuttgart 2.5 hours, Innsbruck 2.75 hours).
However, affordable parking is only scarcely available, recommending a journey by public transportation. Please be aware that for an arrival via the Swiss autobahn, a vignette needs to be bought (CHF 40.00).

If you are coming by car, take the exit St.Gallen/Kreuzbleiche and continue in the direction of “Zentrum”. Exiting the tunnel, change onto the left lane and follow the road signs towards the university. However, only a few long-term parking spots are available there.

Recommendation: Leave the car at the parking garage at the train station (on the way to the university) and from there, get to the university by taking bus route Nr. 9 or walking (ca. 15 min.).
In the center of the city, additional parking garages are available; private parking spots may possibly be hired for the duration of the conference via service providers such as parku.ch; further, some hotels include own parking spaces.
